By: Jojette Asumbrado Ramos

Devoted people come to Cebu City to give homage to the little child image of Jesus Christ, who is a symbolism of childlike form of the Savior. Santo Nino, as we call Him in our Visayan dialect had and will be the protector of the Queen City of the South as well as to those who are pious and not so, in a way.

At dawn, as my co-workers and I became observers of the massive contingents lining up on the road, waiting for the 8 am commencement of the parade. The ROTC cadets lining up on the sides of the streets holding the rope in order to control the crowd not to go beyond, to let the participants have space for dancing. Sinulog after all is a street dancing homage to the vibrant and energetic Santo Nino. The police forces and the government officials are all assigned to designated to places, visibility is a must in here.

All the people are excited, smiling, wearing colorful outfits, costumes of glittery in nature, uniqueness is totally encourage. Be prepared to walk for kilometers thou, it is part to the immersion in this festival.

The music, the beat of the drums; it will just make you want to dance. If my words do not convinced you, then let me enhance your imagination to the pictures I had taken during the celebration of Sinulog.
